Too Faced Better than Sex Mascara Dupe?!

This week let’s talk about a new mascara that is already sold out in most drugstores. L’oreal recently came out with a new mascara called, L’oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise, and many have been comparing it to the Too Faced Better than Sex mascara. The packaging is almost identical and even the brush has a similar hourglass shape. Is it a dupe?! Keep reading 😉

Description

This mascara is supposed to take your lashes to paradise!? (let’s think of a sandy white beach in Hawaii) It will provide volume and length with more intense black pigments. The 200+ bristles (OMG!) will hug every lash and the formula will provide full feathery lashes that are still soft to the touch. We bought ours at Shoppers Drug Mart for about $14.99CAD. It contains 0.28oz of product and it comes in three shades: blackest black, black and black brown. And for all those who cry really easily (aka Helen), there is a waterproof formula as well.

 

Review

This is now become our new go-to everyday mascara. It makes your lashes look so flirty and fluttery! If you apply one coat, it looks really natural which is great for everyday, but you can also build it up without getting spidery lashes which is a look we personally don’t go for. We were so pleasantly surprised to still see your lashes up and perky despite wearing it for the whole day. It really holds a curl and it doesn’t transfer under our eyes!? The brush truly does catch every lash which is what we really enjoyed about the Too Faced mascara.

 

The formula is on the drier side, so my only concern is that it will dry out quickly. We’ll have to wait and see, but so far so good. This mascara is a little pricey in comparison to other drugstore mascaras, but it has by far outperformed the ones we’ve tried, including some high end brands.

DRUGSTORE Haul! Cheap skincare, makeup, and more!

Whether it’s a department store, makeup store, or even drugstore, we are always on the hunt for new beauty products to try out (must be in our blood 😉 ). This past week, we took a seemingly harmless trip to our local supermarket, Superstore. As we casually browsed the beauty aisles, we slowly picked up one thing… and then another… and another.. and before we knew it, we had a beauty haul! We actually each purchased a lot of the same things but there’s a couple things we each purchased on our own. Some stuff we’ve provided a little first impressions, other things we’ve yet to try (but let us know if you want a full review!).

Xilix Tiger Wrinkle Mask

They were on sale for $0.94 cents!!! Is that not a good enough reason to buy +20?! (Seriously… we went back to buy more at Superstore because we liked it so much after the first try). It’s a really great hydrating mask – amazing!

My Beauty Diary Apple Polyphenol Mask

This box was also on sale for about $9 for a pack of 10 sheet masks… That’s less than $1 for each mask. Enough said. Who knows if it’s any good though.. I guess we’ll find out soon enough!

St Ives Hydrate Body Lotion – in Cucumber & Melon / Coconut & Orchid

Katelyn: I just ran out of my insanely large container of cucumber scented body lotion and I needed a replacement asap! This lotion from St. Ives had an identical scent so that was a no brainer. It sinks into the skin very quickly as well.

Helen: While I don’t hoard tubs of lotion like Katelyn, I wanted to get a light, nicely scented body lotion and this happened to also be on sale for less than $4 so I decided to give it a try. So far so good and it smells great!

Mediheal Acai Berry / Lemon Lime Ade Sheet Mask

On sale for $1… yaaaaas gurl. Plus they look so cute, just like a yummy smoothie 😉

SNP Gold Collagen Ampoule Mask, Diamond Brightening Ampoule Mask, Black Pearl Renew Black Ampoule Mask

Gold, Diamond, and Black Pearl. All exquisite ingredients – so what better use than to put them on your face? Hopefully this will give us glowing skin!! These little guys were on sale and ran for about $2.75 each – a little pricier than your average sheet mask but it also has better ingredients.

Karuna Boxed Sheet Mask, Set of 4 – in Age-Defying and Variety Box

First of all, let us start by saying these normally go for $10 EACH at Sephora… crazy right?! What’s even crazier? We got these on sale for a pack of 4 for just $12.99!!! Is that a deal or what?! 🙂

Essie Gel Couture Nail – in Satin Slipper and Top Coat

We’ve heard awesome reviews about the new Essie line so we had to give it a try. Satin Slipper is such a beautiful colour, a very light cream pink, and has a bit of a shimmer, almost pearlescent (you don’t notice too much shimmer unless you’re very very up close). These were on sale for about $9 each.

Cetaphil Cleansing Bar

So the soap was on sale for $5.50 which isn’t that cheap but it had to buy in groups of two and Helen only needed one bar.. so Katelyn graciously offered to buy the other (what a saint). It’s a new buy for Katelyn but Helen’s used it for quite some time and she really likes it as a gentle facial cleanser – we’ll wait and see what Katelyn thinks!

L’Oreal Lash Paradise

Alright so maybe this was one of the few things we bought that wasn’t on sale.. but we were so excited to see this in store we couldn’t help ourselves! It’s a new mascara and we’ve only heard amazing reviews about it. Spoiler alert – we like it!! It’s not super cheap for drugstore but still not bad, we got it for about $13. Sit tight, we’ll probably do a review on this one soon but comment below if you want a review asap! 😉

Conair Curling Iron

I was in the market for a larger curling iron for a nice beachy wave look but I never committed to one because I normally lazy with my hair. But when I saw this one at ~$16 I thought WHY NOT?! Still figuring out this clip business but I’m up for the challenge (challenging only for me it seems -__-). This set me back only $16.99!

Wet n Wild MegaLast Liquid Catsuit Matte Lipstick – in Rebel Rose, Berry Recognize

Tati, one of my favourite beauty youtubers mentioned these were one of the only matte lippies she could wear. I thought I would give it a try and so far find it pretty comfortable for a matte liquid lipstick. My lips are kind of dry after wearing it for a while but normally a good moisturizing post matte lipstick day works fine for me. These costed $$4.98 each, which is such a good deal for a good matte lippie.

Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer – in Bronze

Helen bought this…everyone on youtube loves this…it smells like vacation…need I say more?! I was worried it wouldn’t show up on my skin but it is very buildable and it looks so natural. I love it! Normally this costs around $20, but I was able to snag this bad boy on sale for $13.98.

CoverGirl Roses TruNaked Eyeshadow Palette

I just really couldn’t help myself… I’ve been looking for some rosy eyeshadows but couldn’t really justify buying the original Urban Decay Rose Palette, so I’ve definitely had my eye on this guy for a while now.. and it finally went on sale! Got it for about $9 and I’m so excited to give it a try, I’ve heard so many good reviews! 🙂

Hawaiian Tropic Sheer Touch Ultra Radiance Oil-Free Sunscreen SPF 50+

What a tongue twister but besides that, I totally swear by this, this is the holy grail of all body sunscreens!! I love it because it has a high SPF so it’s perfect for those day’s you’re out in the sun all day (it also has lower SPFs if that’s what you prefer too). I really like the smell of it too, smells a little like coconut and it just reminds me so much of summer. The best thing about this sunscreen though is that when you put it on, it has that little bit of shimmer – nothing that feels gritty but it just makes your skin look healthy and glowy, I love it! I got this for $9 too on sale 🙂

It’s Skin Bamboo Sheet Mask

It’s described to be a hydrating mask and right now, that’s all my skin seems to want! So I thought I’d give it a try. It retails for about $1.20 each.
